The Westwood School
Since 1986, The Westwood School has provided an outstanding Montessori environment beginning at the Toddler level, building on the Chinese proverb, “What I hear I forget; what I see I remember; what I do I know.”
Westwood blends this highly regarded method with the International Baccalaureate Programme (IB), an ideal overlay to the foundation laid by the Montessori Method. IB World Schools (more than 3,500 in over 140 countries) share a common philosophy-a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that The Westwood School believes is important for our students.
Since 2004, Westwood has been an authorized IB World School. We welcome students and families who share a joy of learning and believe that education should be a journey, not a race. Our students acquire the skills and values necessary to think critically and act responsibly within a student-centered curriculum with academic rigor and international mindedness.

At Westwood, we believe in the development of the whole child. This very much includes development of the arts including music, visual art and theatre.
From the very beginning, preschool age children are given opportunities to sing, create and perform on a daily basis. These opportunities come from group-time songs and show-n-tell, dramatic play outside and the independent exploration of art materials and concepts on the Montessori “art shelf.” The ability to discriminate, match, and sequence sounds are also developed when using sound materials in the sensorial section of the classroom, as well as musical instruments
Westwood athletics exist to provide opportunities for our students to participate in activities under safe, enjoyable and challenging conditions. Our athletics is designed to affirm and promote Westwood values. We strive to engage student athletes fully—in mind, body and spirit. Student-athletes, coaches and parents are called upon to work together in a true spirit of sportsmanship and to assist in creating an environment in which those values can be revealed, tested and proven.
