TOPS is a public statewide online school serving students in grades 9-12. It is our mission to prepare students for life in a flexible learning environment that values high achievement in all pursuits.

TOPS is accredited by AdvancED, and its courses are certified by the NCAA Eligibility Center for Division I athletes. In addition, TOPS uses Google Apps for Education to provide students with cloud-based services and email and Canvas by for its Learning Management Service.

High School Courses As TOPS holds true to its mission, the courses we offer are designed to prepare all students for life after high school in a flexible learning environment. TOPS currently operates on a block schedule. This allows students two semesters of courses – eight in total – in which students take classes in four subject areas. In addition, we offer elective courses and seven program of studies. To meet graduation requirements, incoming freshmen, sophomores, and juniors are required to complete 24 credits with required core subjects, electives, and a choice of one of seven program of studies. Incoming freshman, sophomores, and juniors have the option to complete an additional program of study if schedule permits.

Specialities

Dual Enrollment is an opportunity for juniors and seniors, in good standing (3.0 GPA or higher OR approval from the school counselor), to take college level courses. Students are enrolled simultaneously at both Tennessee Online Public School and in a college course(s).
